EXPOSITORY PREACHING

"And you have not kept charge of My holy things"

Ezekiel 44:8

What is expository preaching? It is when a sermon finds its sole source in Scripture. Expository preaching is a form of preaching that focuses on explaining the biblical text with a strong emphasis on understanding and explaining the original language, history, and culture involved in the text. The emphasis in expository preaching is God and His glory rather than our own needs or preferences. Though Scripture clearly addresses the needs of people, expository preaching helps the hearer understand God's perspective of an issue and how they might apply that perspective to our life. Our goal in expository preaching is not whether the hearer likes the message or is entertained by it, but whether the text of Scripture has been communicated accurately using the best available information.
